For me, I think the story would have had a bigger impact if I knew a few more details. The only things that were missing for me, were more details on the backstory. I’m starting to think authors are sadists who enjoy making me fall in love with their characters and stories only to rip them away. Why is this a standalone? 🥺 I get this is the start to a bigger universe but….my heart. What I cannot accept is that that’s it for these characters. This is one of the books that was hard for me to review. The characters are likable and the FMC is one to be proud of. It’s a short read but surprisingly immersive.
